Authorized Protected Unit

Authorized Protected Units (Unitate Protejata Autorizata) in Romania are entities designed to facilitate the employment of persons with disabilities. These are economic operators (both public and private) that are authorized to function with the primary goal of employing individuals with disabilities.

This is regulated by Law 448/2006′s which aims to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities, and a significant part of that involves their integration into the workforce. The concept of authorized protected units is a mechanism to achieve this goal.

Companies with 50 or more employees have to pay a disability tax as per art. 78, paragraph. 3, a).

According to art, 78, paragraph 3, b) these companies can use 50% of the tax to contract services from Authorized Protected Units.

On the 22nd of February 2024, LOWIS TECH SRL obtained the status of protected company (see the document below)
